muse, v.: to reflect in a thoughtful way

These are my reflections.

Neatly Packaged

Have you ever bought anything purely based on its package design? I know I have because it is so hard to not appreciate beautiful things. Here are a few products that stand out in the packaging game.

WTP Paints – The color blocking on these paint cans from Reynolds and Rainer is awesome... and informative. Love it.

eos – Partially because of its marketing strategy, eos revolutionalized the chapstick game (in my opinion) through its use of celebrating. Part of that, though, is also because of how the chapstick is packaged and the round design of the product itself once opened. Truly inventive.

Brandless – I love this packaging because it is so simple. Brandless is doing an important job in the food industry and the fact that the product is exactly its name is awesome.

Underwood – What can I say? I love me some wine and the canned wine revolution frontrunner is Underwood from Union Wine Co. in Oregon. My personal favorite can is the Riesling Radler (even if the taste is a little 'meh').

Nike Air – This package highlights the product so perfectly. Pure genius.

Bon Bon Bon – The chocolate shop in Detroit has found a way to add the coolest touch to its creations. From the individual, bright orange boxes for each treat to the amazing final box that holds your purchase, I am obsessed.

Boxed Water – If you can't tell, I am big fan of Midwest companies, as a Midwest girl, and this water from Grand Rapids is, perhaps, my favorite of them all. Bottled water is a huge industry that is also causing some huge issues for the environment. Boxed Water is here to change that through its emphasis on sustainability. That's why you see it at all the hipster fests. Keep doin' you, Boxed Water.

Owen + Alchemy – Another Midwestern company, this time out of Chicago, with cool packaging is this urban juice producer. I first discovered them at a vendor event and was immediately hooked. I love the emphasis of the packaging on the chemistry and science behind each juice. I also love that it is reusable.

Help Remedies – Similar to Brandless, the Help Remedies package designs have a consumer approach. Each package puts the main symptom front a center to make the choice among the pharmacy racks easier. Imagination at its finest, and simplest.

Thelma's – Clearly food packaging is an easier target because this is yet another food-based one for you. This cookie maker, out of Iowa, has the funnest design for its cookies that I have ever seen. Since the orders come warmed, the design mimics an oven with fresh racks of cookies. Incredible.
